Although I could most definitely look this up on IMDB.com, what is LeVar Burton doing these days? I remember him in Roots, the television show-for-kids Reading Rainbow, and then his ascent to nerd-dom as LaForge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the various movie spin-offs. I’m just sayin’: I kind of miss that guy.

I remember seeing him as the host of something on TV - probably an infomercial for Dapper Dan, but nothing since. I hope he’s okay. :-/

I have a friend (an older one) who was friends with LeVar Burton in college. So, I’m, like, two degrees of separation from him! OMG!
p.s. Why did they do away with the spiffy visor in favor of the robotic eyes or whatever they were in the later episodes/movies?

I’m not sure on the visor question. Maybe there was some other reason like it was messing up LeVar’s actual eyesight to wear that thing so much so they figured that they could just give him weird contacts and then write a story line around it. That is 100% guess. I have no idea.
Or, maybe it was getting knocked off way too often? Hah.

My wife always thought that it would be lovely to live in an age in which a banana clip could double as corrective lenses. How handy dandy they are in the future!
