Friday Electronic Music Blogging - Touchtable DJ technology demo

I couldn’t find a description for this video, but it’s pretty cool. More videos documenting the trial and error process before arriving at this stage can be found here.

  1. This is pretty cool — especially for studio use (although only for those folks who wanted a aomewhat more “manual” feel to their beats instead of the software clicking of a mouse)…at the same time, though, if this were to take the place of “turntables,” I think I’d be pretty sad, you know?

  2. Yeah, I think it’s cool, but I honestly don’t think vinyl purists (or even hobbyists) would jump on board, and for good reason.

For it to be interesting they’d have to do something beyond just replicating a turntable experience into doing something that you couldn’t do on a usual turntable setup. For example, what Squarepusher is to music (tweaked-out DnB that humans can’t reproduce live), maybe they could do something like that with this. Otherwise, why reinvent the wheel, ya know?

That being said, I’d be happy to be a beta tester :)
