Good question -- I'm not entirely sure, but at worse, if he is just that good, then it could be like playing the theramin or playing the trombone: you have to memorize locations of positions of hands or slider. Or maybe more analogous to stringed instruments: a violin or fretless bass?

Whoa....that's pretty cool. Touch screen stuff is becoming hugely influential, but the trigger plate hasn't been as popular...this could change things (the only other trigger stuff I know of with music application is some of Zachary Vex's "Zvex Probe" effects pedals...those things are incredible). do you know, Eric, since it's MIDI I'm guessing you would only assign notes that will interact well (in the same major or minor scale) so as not to accidentally hit a bad or dissonant note? I'm just curious as to how a hand gesture wouldn't accidentally set off the wrong note...how far is the region per note? you know? Looks like this guy's got it down, I just wonder if it would be very difficult to use, or if it would be very limited because of what you'd have to program into it...still...looks friggin' cool.
